Read MoreStephenson Transport is a family owned transport business which has been serving the rural community since 1936. The company is based in the Central Hawkes Bay town of Waipawa and it also has a busy depot in Irongate Road East in Hastings.
From these yards, the company serves clients based in Hawkes Bay and throughout the Lower North Island.
Currently the company has a fleet of 50 trucks of which 30 are livestock units. The company places the utmost importance on providing consistently good service which means being on time and making sure that all livestock, produce and freight are handled safely and correctly.
During an average 12 month period, the company carries well over 1 million lambs, 600,000 other sheep and around 160,000 head of cattle. As the fleet expands, these numbers are growing at the rate of 11% per annum.
Our trucks travel over 2,580,00 kilometers per annum. Their busiest time is from October to March which includes the apple harvesting season in Hawkes Bay.
1600 BullsFor the last 3 years, the company has been tasked by a Hawke's Bay based client to cart service bulls from Sherenden to all parts of the Waikato, King Country and Bay of Plenty regions as well as within Hawke's Bay. These bulls are leased by dairy farmers for a period of about 12 weeks, after which they all have to be collected and brought back to Hawke's Bay.
The Hastings depot in Irongate Road East was established in 2005 and forms an important part of the company's day to day operations. The Hastings depot includes a Dispatch Office and a modern 3 Bay Truck Wash.
